Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a term that came into fashion in the 1970’s. It is a term that is highly debated and has a variety of interpretations – at Original Search we use our time and skills to help those in our local community that are less fortunate than ourselves. We are particularly keen to help those in the London’s homeless community and are currently working alongside an organisation called Big House, which aims to help individuals re-integrate into society.

West London Mission – Big House

Big House gives individuals the opportunity to live independently in a supportive environment which helps prepare them for sustaining their own tenancy in the future. In makes them part of a community in which each person has had some experience of street life and can offer some support to each other, whilst learning new skills and develop existing ones. The programme covers a wide range of themes including cookery, IT classes, nutrition, health and safety in the home, DIY, creative writing and health (including alcohol and drug misuse). Big House is able to link individuals with appropriate agencies and people who will help them when they move into permanent accommodation.

HorseWorld

Original Search has also been working with HorseWorld, an organisation which rescues horses, ponies and donkeys that have been abandoned, mistreated and neglected. HorseWorld is often the only lifeline to animals that have been treated so cruelly that they have given up hope of a life that is free from pain and suffering. Each animal that we rescue is nursed back to health and wherever possible, we seek loving homes so they can have a second chance at life.

We help ponies like 4 month old Cricket who was part of a group of 36 ponies being kept in terrible conditions. The ponies were too young to have been taken away from their mothers and during the rescue several of these starving foals fell over in the ankle deep slurry as they were just too weak to stand.

When Cricket arrived at HorseWorld he was a very ill but the team was determined to nurse this beautiful foal back to health. Cricket had to endure weeks of treatment but thanks to the HorseWorld Team he made a full recovery. Cricket is still learning to trust people and can give you a cheeky nip on the bum if you’re not paying attention! But we don’t mind too much as it’s lovely to see him fit and well.
